MAPLE RIDGE – New Democrat MLAs Lisa Beare and Bob D’Eith are welcoming $840,125 in funding for 28 organizations for arts, culture and sport in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, through the Community Gaming Grants program.

“I’m glad to see so many grant recipients here in our community. Arts, culture, and sport make up the heart and soul of any community, and that is especially true in Maple Ridge,” said MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission Bob D’Eith.

“These grants will go a long way in connecting more residents with local arts, sports, and culture,” added MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Lisa Beare. “I’m so proud to be a part of a government that recognizes the value in supporting local creativity, cultural exchange, and sport.”

Recipients of the community grant funding include the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association and the Professional Live Arts for Youth Society.

Over 700 not-for-profit organizations around the province are receiving approximately $18 million to deliver performing arts, literature, heritage and cultural programs for people of all ages.

The Province is also providing approximately $27.5 million to more than 850 sport sector organizations in 2018-19. These programs create opportunities for people who would not otherwise be able to participate and who can benefit from organized, competitive physical activities in their community.

The Community Gaming Grants program provides up to $140 million to about 5,000 not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia each year.
