COVID-19 Update April 6, 2020:

📊 From Saturday to Sunday, there were 26 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in BC. There are 37 new cases today. This adds to 63 additional cases to bringing the total in BC to 1266. There are 450 confirmed cases in Fraser health region.

3 of the outbreaks in long-term care homes have been declared over (no new cases within the 2 week incubation period).

🔴 One more person has passed away due to COVID-19. I wish to extend my condolences to their family.

💵 The federal government has opened applications today for the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit.

There are 4,400 empty care beds in BC in preparation for the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Minister Dix mentioned, we have 620 adult capable ventilators already distributed; 33 are ready to go, and 55 have just arrived this morning from the National Emergency Supply.

You are making a serious difference. As Dr. Henry said today: “our percentage of new cases has been slowing, and that is a testament to the effort of everyone in BC has been making over the last few weeks”.

This is not the time to let-up. We have to keep up these efforts.
