πŸ“Š There are 29 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in BC. There are a total of 1,853 confirmed cases in BC. There are 772 cases in the Fraser Health region.

πŸ”΄ I am very saddened to report that four more people have passed away due to COVID-19 in BC. My condolences go to their families and communities.

πŸ’» Targeted funding announced today will give people in rural, remote and Indigenous communities in British Columbia access to faster internet services at a time when they need them most. The $50-million Connecting British Columbia program now includes a funding stream to help internet service providers with immediate network equipment upgrades to rapidly improve capacity and internet speeds in underserved communities throughout the province.

πŸ’΅ Launching in mid-May 2020, the new federal-provincial Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance Program (CECRA) will see B.C. small businesses receive a total of over $300 million in federal-provincial relief, with B.C. contributing an estimated $80 million. CECRA will help businesses impacted by COVID-19 to reduce their rental costs by 75%.

βœ… 1,114 people who had tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered and no longer require isolation.

 

As Dr. Henry said, while weekends are a time to unwind and relax, the exception is with these important health measures. Let’s continue to stay strong and show care and compassion to those around us, by ensuring we do not undo all of our hard work and sacrifice.
