COVID-19 Update April 2, 2020:
π There are 55 new confirmed cases in British Columbia for a total of 1121 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia. There are 386 cases in the Fraser Health region.
β Dr. Bonnie Henry is urging all British Columbians to cancel non-essential travel within the province.
π΄ I am very saddened by the news of 6 more people having passed due to COVID-19. 1 of these 6 was in the Fraser Health region. This brings the total number of deaths in BC due to COVID-19 to 31. Once again, my thoughts are with the families as they mourn in this incredibly difficult time.
β Temporary tax exemptions for those on assistance for Employment Insurance and the $2,000 Canada Emergency Response Benefit. Those eligible for EI or the CERB will not have that amount deducted from their monthly assistance cheque.
π΅ A $300 income supplement for the next three months for people on income or disability assistance who do not qualify for CERB or EI.
β Those receiving the $52 Transportation Supplement will see this added to their assistance cheque this month and each subsequent month the fare suspension remains place.
